It helps in the treatment of hypotension because of  inadequate cardiac output. Alpha-adrenergic activity of dopamine becomes more prominent at high therapeutic doses. That partially affects the SVR. Due  to diminished SVR, hypotension is treated. Patient whise  blood pressure as well as urine flow haven’t undergone profound deterioration. then prognosis is good. It is in the case of some other circulatory decompensation states.

Dopamine is available in the concentrated drug solution. So dilute the preparation to 100-fold in isotonic saline. The route of administration is i.v. after diluting.

For renal failure doctor prescribe low doses 1 to 5 micrograms per kg per minutes. It helps to increase kidney blood flow as well as urine output.

Physicians suggest intermediate dose 5 to 15 mcg/kg/minute IV. That improves blood flow in kidney, cardiac output and contractility. Also increase heart rate of patients.

High dose of 20 to 50 mcg per kg per minute give IV to the patients. This injection helps to increase blood pressure and stimulate vasoconstriction. At the intervals of 10 to 30-minute dose can be increased by 1 to 4 mcg/kg/minute. Dose increased until you get desired response only.
